DMX. Where do I even start? It was a media closed concert. I was there for Ja Rule and wound up entering while DMX was on stage. Knowing I only had a few minutes, I immediately set out to work.
He had a jam-packed crowd and everyone knew the lyrics and were singing along. The crowd was engaged the entire time. At the end, he said a prayer over his fans which I thought was amazing. Then he made a tribute to 2pac. That was a very emotional moment for him and the crowd.
Almost everyone had either a lighter or cellphone flashlight to honor 2pac’s memory. One legend honoring another-it was a big moment.

I had an AAA (all access pass) but only got a few shots in because I came in on his last 3 songs… but I wasn’t worried because there’s always another show right? I was wrong. DMX passed shortly after. The moral of the story: treat every opportunity as your last because it just might be. RIP DMX. See you on the other side.
