1. At what age did you realize that music was your passion?

“I picked up the guitar at age 8 and was obsessed with learning different songs by ear. I’d stay up for hours and hours playing along to records I loved from the 60s and 70s and early 2000s.

I didn’t start songwriting until high school, but that discovery happened by accident. The passion was pretty instant, but I also come from a family who loves music. My dad loved playing guitar and my mom is a jazz pianist - in short my environment growing up was very musical”.

2. When did you really start pursuing music with laser focus?

“My first band in high school I’d say was pretty focused, we were always writing new songs, playing shows around Santa Cruz and the Bay Area, and trying to get to the next level. Making music my life was always kind of the goal”.

3. What advice would you give those who get stuck on this journey?

“Keep writing”.

4. What’s your favorite song that you’ve made?

“My favorite song is usually whatever I’ve most recently released so I’d say ‘Memory” is my favorite at the moment. I recorded it with Jackson from Day Wave and I’m really happy with how that one turned out”.

5. If you had to pick 1 person... who has impacted you the most?

“My girlfriend Aza”.

6. If you could thank 2 people right now who would it be and why?

“My mom and dad for birthing me, teaching me to always be kind, and for believing and nurturing the things I love”.

7. What artist did you listen to most growing up?

“It was a lot of The Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, The Strokes, etc”.

8. What has been your most memorable moment on this journey?

“So many to count, performing on Jimmy Fallon with Macklemore was super memorable, playing Lollapalooza with my last band, and all the moments I’ve come up with song ideas have been memorable. Any moment that spark ignites a song idea and I see it through. Then I’ve accomplished my goal for the day”.

9. Who do you see yourself collaborating with next?

“I’d love to collaborate with FINNEAS, Arlo Parks, Kevin Abstract, Tyler the Creator, Tones and I, Flume, and Mark Ronson”.
