On Friday, August 28th, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Six Foot Blonde returned to HIFI Annex, nearly a month after their last appearance on the same stage, except this time, it was their headlining show for their “Spit it Out” Tour. Once again, I stood in front of the barriers with my camera ready to capture another great performance of the alternative/indie band. Six Foot Blonde formed an hour down the road from Indianapolis while in college at Indiana University, and the HIFI Annex was the first stop of their tour, making it a little homecoming welcome.
Their lead singer, Julia Rusyniak, instantly captured the audience by belting out some of their original hits like “Landgirl,” “Ripe,” and “Lady.” Then, the question was asked, “Would you like to hear our album?” The crowd erupted, and Six Foot Blonde proceeded to play their sophomore album “Hummingbird.” The energy felt from this album puts you back into the comfort of late-night summer drives with your best friends. Some of my personal favorites were “Carmilla,” “Hummingbird,” and “Berlin.” Their album officially releases on September 25th.
They ended the night with a few more originals, and the packed crowd vibed all night long. The entire band’s energy makes you want to get up and dance. You would not be disappointed seeing Six Foot Blonde in concert, so make it out to a show soon!
