Arriving to a show and seeing enthusiastic fans lined up is such a relieving feeling: people just like you looking forward to a show that you have also been awaiting. Most people attend concerts to escape from reality and listen to their favorite music, and that’s exactly what a Gracie Abrams’ fan told me inside.

Gracie Abrams played in Phoenix, Arizona (March 1st, 2022) at the Valley Bar - a week after her last show. She had to cancel her past two Texas stops due to “struggling vocally and feeling unwell” as she stated in her Instagram story. Nonetheless, she went on stage feeling great and sounding great, as if nothing happened.

She opened the show with her song “Feels Like” which correlates with the tour name “This is What it Feels Like.” I’m not going to lie, I saved the song on my playlist after photographing her because it’s very lyrically beautiful.

The venue was very small, secluded, and dark. Gracie pointed this out during the show but also exclaimed how she loved the intimateness. I admire her connection with her fans and engaging with them constantly throughout the show, whether that be by accepting gifts or singing directly to the fan’s camera.

The fans sang every song back to her and screamed loudly whenever their favorite song was beginning to play. I could tell which songs were popular just by the fans’ eagerness.

Overall, Gracie Abrams is certainly a name to remember the next coming months. You can catch her next opening up for Olivia Rodrigo on her SOUR tour, beginning April 2nd in San Francisco.
